Sophistication and technology Nobody offers dual pump systems, phone and email notification, multi-stage chargers, and fully adjustable switches Frankly, most of the other systems out there are pretty much all the same cheaply made pump and charger combination The pumps themselves pump more efficiently Your system will run longer during a power outage Pumps draw more power without achieving higher capacities Pump is quality built in the USA Will not overheat, will last many, many years. 3 and an unheard of 5 year warranty on the DualCom Usually a small cheap, Taiwan-built imported motor. 1 year warranties are common Highest capacities available 5 sizes: 2000, 3500, 4000, Max and the biggest on the market...DualCom Most are VERY small capacities, (and most exaggerate their capacities) Pump is submersible Will not overheat, can actually run dry for long periods of time. Pump can sit on bottom of pit and pump all water out Upright motors can more easily overheat (and usually draw far more power - see efficiency above) Cheap systems that "hang" on pipe can't pump water to bottom, causing more frequent cycling Switches are adjustable Can be adjusted to turn the pump on and off where most appropriate. Aids in efficient cycling Usually a cheap, plastic bobber-style (mercury or tethered float) switch. Protector systems are water level activated Ensures operation for ANY reason water exceeds normal level Some systems are limited as to why they activate SmartCharge units are micro-processor controlled and made in the good 'ol USA! The chart below explains why The Protector® is better protection than a battery inverter set-up, such as "Sumpro", a generator (manual or automatic), or a water-pressure pump.
Generator Have to be home to operate, won't help if primary pump fails, won't help if primary pump not keeping up. Automatic Generator Won't help if primary pump fails, won't help if primary pump not keeping up, very expensive. Inverter set-up (Sumpro, etc) Won't help if primary pump fails, won't help if primary pump not keeping up, expensive. Provides only minimal running time. We do carry Sumpro, as it can be appropriate in certain situations, such as ejector pumps or limited activity sump pumps. Call for info. Water pressure pump (Homeguard, etc.) VERY minimal capacity, wouldn't be useful for most sump pits that collect even small amounts of water, adds water from supply lines to already saturated systems. We carry one water pressure pump unit that has respectable capacity. Call for info. Not sure which Protector System is right for you?
If, during a heavy rain, your pump runs once:
- Every 10 minutes or more any system is suitable
- Every 5-10 minutes 3500 or bigger
- Every 2-5 minutes 4000 or bigger
- Every 2 minutes or less Max or DualCom
